In the presence of Dr. Ramzan bin Abdullah Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Information, the 19th regular session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers was held today, Tuesday, hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain, headed by His Excellency Mr. Salman bin Youssef Al-Dosari, Minister of Information of the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Chairman of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers.

 

The meeting was held in the presence of Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, and the Arab Ministers of Information, members of the Executive Office.

 

 

During the meeting, the Minister of Information delivered a speech in which he welcomed the Arab Ministers of Information, members of the Executive Office, to their second country, the Kingdom of Bahrain, as brothers and dear guests to whom he has all love and appreciation. He expressed his happiness and appreciation for their blessed efforts in leading the Arab media system towards further advancement and development, in a way that enhances the role of the media and its noble message as one of the most important pillars of the renaissance of the Arab world in all fields.

 

The Minister conveyed to the participants in the meeting the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, President of the current session of the Arab Summit, may God protect him and grant him peace, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, and their wishes for the attendees of success and guidance in discussing and adopting the recommendations that will achieve Arab solidarity and integration at this critical stage in the history of the Arab nation.

 

The Minister of Information expressed his great thanks and appreciation to Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector, and the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Information Ministers for their tireless efforts and cooperation during the preparations and arrangements for hosting the (54) session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, the (101) session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media, and the (19) session of the Executive Office in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

 

The Minister of Information said that our meeting today is linked to hopes and aspirations that it will continue the efforts that push the path of joint Arab media cooperation towards horizons that are compatible with the nature of the challenges facing the region and the world, stressing that this meeting has gained increasing importance in light of its convening directly after the 33rd Arab Summit hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain on the 16th of this May, and the decisions and recommendations issued by this historic summit that represent an important turning point in the reality and future of joint Arab action within its comprehensive framework.

 

The Minister of Information pointed out that the topics on the agenda of today's meeting are of great importance, foremost among which is continuing media support for the Palestinian cause, the first Arab cause, especially in light of the painful conditions witnessed in the Gaza Strip, and the harsh and difficult humanitarian tragedies it has produced. This requires the Arab media to intensify efforts within a joint media plan to publicize the firm and supportive Arab position on the Palestinian cause, which was emphasized by the "Bahrain Summit", and to emphasize that this cause is a major and integral part of the security and stability of the region.

 

At the end of his speech, the Minister of Information reiterated that the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue to support all efforts of joint Arab cooperation, and will not delay in presenting all initiatives and proposals aimed at enhancing joint Arab media work, expressing his happiness and wishes for the success of the meeting’s work in a way that meets the common aspirations and goals.

 

The agenda of the 19th regular session of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers included a number of topics, most notably continuing media support for the Palestinian cause, following up on the Arab media action plan abroad, the Arab map for sustainable development 2030, in addition to the role of Arab media in confronting the phenomenon of terrorism.

 

At the end of the meeting, a number of recommendations were approved in preparation for presenting them to the meeting of the Council of Arab Information Ministers scheduled to be held tomorrow, Wednesday.
